Project Sales Director - UK Wide

UK Wide

£65,000

Mission Brief

Sales | Full-time | UK-based, with national travel | Starting £65,000 base + commission (£120,000 OTE)

We're looking for a Project Sales Director to take qualified project opportunities and convert them into closed, profitable work. You won't be cold prospecting — Business Development and Account Management generate and qualify the pipeline, and your job is to own each opportunity from handover, run the sales process, negotiate the deal, close it, and hand it cleanly to delivery. You'll be the client's main point of contact throughout, working alongside our Design & Estimating team, who handle pricing and technical costing while you own the relationship. This role suits someone who wants to spend their time selling rather than chasing leads, and who takes pride in deals that land in delivery exactly as they were sold.

Day to day, you'll take ownership of qualified opportunities handed to you, engage stakeholders early and widely, lead client meetings across the UK, and brief the Design & Estimating team clearly so they can produce accurate quotes. You'll review and pressure-test quotes before they reach the client, negotiate terms and pricing within approved margin guidelines, keep deals moving with proactive follow-up and accurate CRM records, close business and hand off cleanly to delivery, and forecast honestly to sales leadership on a regular cadence. Success is measured on conversion and win rates, revenue closed against target and margin, average deal size and sales cycle length, forecast accuracy, and the quality of handover into delivery.

Requirements

You'll need 3+ years in a closing sales role, ideally project-based or complex B2B, with a track record of hitting both revenue and margin targets. Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with comfort dealing with technical buyers, budget holders, and multiple decision-makers in one account. You should have experience forecasting a pipeline accurately and being held to it, and be comfortable working within a defined sales process, including structured handovers from a separate sourcing team. Genuine attention to detail on briefing and requirements is important — an incomplete brief becomes an inaccurate quote, and an inaccurate quote becomes delivery's problem. A full, valid UK driving licence is required, and you'll need to be happy travelling nationally, including overnight stays. Nice to have: experience receiving qualified leads from a dedicated BD or Account Management function, familiarity with project-based costing and margin models, experience working cross-functionally with technical or estimating teams, and experience mentoring or ramping new sales hires.

Benefits

Starting £65,000 base salary depending on experience, with an uncapped commission structure taking on-target earnings to £120,000. Company car or car allowance (your choice), with all business mileage and travel expenses covered. Company pension scheme, plus annual leave and bank holidays. Life assurance and income protection. Laptop, mobile, and all business expenses provided. A structured pipeline with no cold prospecting, clear and realistic targets built from actual team performance, a proper ramp period for new starters, and real ownership of the client relationship from handover through to close in a genuinely collaborative setup between Sales, Business Development, and Delivery.
